Our Mission:

WHMC exists to improve the way people deal with conflict by providing

mediation, facilitation, education and training services.

Our Services

Mediation Services

A confidential problem-solving process in which a trained neutral (mediator) assists the parties in communicating what is important in the dispute, creating and negotiating options, and crafting agreements that are fair, realistic and durable.

Mediation is a voluntary process which is done in good faith by all parties. The mediators ensure a safe and respectful process for the parties involved.

We use a sliding scale to determine fees for mediation.  The fees range from $50.00 - $200.00 for a session.  For those with financial hardships, we either reduce the fee or waive it entirely.

We mediate a number of types of conflict:  neighbor-neighbor, divorce, landlord/tenant, consumer/merchant, real estate, community issues, small claims, condominium, civil rights, special education, and parenting plans, just to name a few.

Facilitation Services

A process whereby a trained neutral assists a group with designing and conducting a meeting (or series of meetings) to realize the desired objectives of the group.  Appropriate agenda development, effective meeting process and designated outcomes are the result.  It is a fair, respectful, timely and cost effective approach.

  Conflict Resolution Education Services

An array of programs designed to enhance people's understanding of the theory and practice of conflict resolution.  The resulting skills can be used in the home, workplace or community.  These programs currently include our "Win-Win" series, our "Working It Out" series, and our collaborative support with the Children First Program (a divorce education workshop).

Our Working it Out program consists of two elementary school based conflict resolution education programs.  We offer a classroom curriculum component which consists of 10 one half hour long lessons presented to lower elementary students.

Our Peer Mediation program consists of a one day peer mediation training, bi-monthly mentoring, and refresher training.  Once trained, students mediate disputes among their peers in the classroom and playground.

Training Services

We regularly offer training to individuals interested in becoming volunteer providers of the services listed above.  Volunteerism is an exciting way to contribute to one's community while enhancing one's own skills.  Please see our calendar of events for upcoming training opportunities.
